Dieane Weist is over-the-top as a self-absorbed opera star who longs to reconnect with her estranged son. He’s gay but can’t tell her, so he concocts a cover story that predictably unravels in this fast, furious, and very funny farce. A great Buddy Night movie – invite the gang and make popcorn for this gigglefest.

Futurama
The original, brilliant, four seasons of Futurama include 72 episodes of 31st century fun, liberally laced with political and social commentary a la Matt Groening. Itty Bitty Titty Committee
Bad lesbian cinema attempts to explore post-feminist social politics. Poorly conceived and executed, but nonetheless popular with the younger crowd. Plot: young heartbroken lesbian joins a post-feminist micro-cell; vandalism, bickering, sex and more heartbreak ensue. Proof that the bar for lesbian cinema is low enough for a limbo contest. Watch it if you like youthful anger and rebellion, riot grrrl music or if you just need to see a slice of young lesbian life. Enthusiastically acted.

Bound
Sizzlingly hot thriller, it’s smart and sexy, has mainstream production values, and features two lesbian protagonists who come out on top of the game. Corky (Gina Gershon) and Violet (Jennifer Tilly) plot to steal two million from the mob. If it isn’t the first full-fledged lesbian thriller, it’s certainly the best. Bound won’t disappoint.

FUTURAMA

In the spirit of full disclosure, I’m a Futurama geek. Dream job: Futurama writer. I love Futurama. Consider yourself warned.
Matt Groening is famous for The Simpsons TV series and Life In Hell comic strip. He should be even better known for Futurama, the brilliant animated TV series he developed with [...]

ITTY BITTY TITTY COMMITTEE
Review by: Jennifer Brooks
Rating:
This is one for the teen crowd and maybe the twenty-somethings.
Itty Bitty Titty Committee is bursting with unhealthy relationship dynamics, dyke drama, and coming of age angst. The movie is juvenile, and obviously – yet ineffectively – didactic; the social theory lessons in IBTC are delivered with the [...]

Pocahauntus
C’mon now, you gotta love the title. And that brand of cornball humor runs strong in this campy horror movie, a modern slice of cheesy fun that will have you laughing throughout. Buddy Night Movie!
Transfixed
A taut, suspenseful mystery thriller with many twists, Transfixed explores the seamy Brussels underworld as a serial killer strikes again and again. Good plotting, pacing and acting. A decent Buddy Night choice for lovers of the thriller/mystery genre.
In Her Line of Fire
When the vice presidents plane goes down near a remote south american island he is kidnapped by rebel forces and held for ransom. It is up to his female secret service agent and a press secretary to infiltrate the camp and save him.
Mistress of Seduction
Processed cheese-food all the way. If this one sounds like a really bad softcore skinflick, it’s because it is a really bad softcore skinflick. But, (there is always a but), this one is so unbelievably bad, it’s funny, a complete riot after a couple of three or four beers. If Ed Wood had survived into [...]
Desperate Living

Vampyros Lesbos
Quality cheese! This is what REAL hokey 70’s dykesploitation films are all about, kids. In Vampyros Lesbos you have hot stripper dykes, pretty ingénues trapped in mental wards, psychedelic nude frolicking, lots of bloody screams and plenty of screamy blood, and a super-hottie vampire countess running around in a bikini and putting the moves on [...]
2 Minutes Later
Michael’s famous, egotistical twin brother Kyle goes missing. Hardboiled Abigail is the detective that teams up with Michael and jumps into Kyle’s world to track him down. Make A Wish
Lesbians love camping! In this comic send-up of the classic slasher flick, Susan and her exes get more than they bargained for when they head out to the woods for Susan’s birthday-bash campout. Cheesy, screamy Buddy Movie Night fun.
Were the World Mine
Okay, so this is really more of a gayboy movie, but it’s still a whole lot of singin’, dancin’ queer fun. Timothy’s uptight little town full of Fundies is playing his last few nerves, so he cooks up a love potion that turns everyone into a raving fabulous homo with predictably hilarious results. Good mixed-crowd [...]
Girlfriends
“They’re young. They’re in love. They kill men.” How could you not love a slice of dykesploitation cheese with a tagline like that? Wanda and Pearle support themselves by hustling rich guys and then offing them. But the pension plan for that job sucks, and what the girls really want is a normal life with [...]

SOAPDISH

Rating:
This is a smart, funny, fast paced comedy. Lots of movies that just plain suck are tagged “comedies” in attempts to trick people into watching them. This isn’t one of them; Soapdish is the real deal. It’s great the first time around and has a very high repeat viewing value.

This is a sizzling hot, masterfully crafted thriller, and among the very best lesbian cinema has to offer. There are many who claim this is not a lesbian film because even though the main characters are gay, the story isn’t about them being gay. For that point alone, I say “Thank [...]
Girl Seeks Girl
Nines, Monica, Anna, Carmen – if you haven’t met these lesbianas deliciosas yet, you are in for a very fun ride. And if you have, I don’t need to catch you up, do I? Great Buddy Movie Night title. Grab your chicas and enjoy!
The Ritz
Rita Moreno gives one of the most memorable performances of her career in this timeless, over-the-top 1975 comedy classic. Naive, fat schlub Gaetano Proclo needs a safe place to hide out from the mob, pronto – what he doesn’t realize is the seedy hotel he checked into is actually the front for a busy gay [...]
The Long Kiss Goodnight
Geena Davis totally rocks this furious thriller, and we highly recommend it. One of the strongest female lead characters in filmdom. Eight years ago, Samantha Caine lost her memory. Now, a cheap detective (Samuel L. Jackson) must help her remember the past before it buries them both. What’s forgotten is not always gone, and you [...]
Cutthroat Island

Captain Morgan (Geena Davis) comes by her pirating license honestly – she inherited it from dear old dad, along with one-third of a juicy treasure map. To get the treasure, Morgan must hunt down the other two-thirds and fend off other greedy pirate crews [...]
Thelma & Louise
The definitive girl buddy movie. Thelma is a repressed housewife sick of her domineering husband. Her best friend Louise is an overworked waitress who has had bad luck with love. They take off together on a spur of the moment vacation roadtrip, and find their true selves. A must see.
And Then Came Lola
Lola can’t commit to anything, especially schedules. When her relationship with her girlfriend hangs in the balance, Lola careens wildly all over San Francisco trying to make good on a promise. Will Lola make it on time? Will she get the girl? Will she trip on her own shoelaces? Run, Lola, run!

Butch Jamie
Jamie can’t get an acting gig as a femme. So she decides to try a different angle, and really butches it up. She lands a juicy part as a man, and finds herself required to keep her real gender a secret in order to keep the job. When her sexy “short-guy-loving” co-star Jill takes [...]
