2 Seconds is about Laurie, a woman who is kicked off her downhill mountain bike racing team. She moves to Montreal and develops a contentious friendship with a grumpy ex-cycling champion who now builds bikes. This is a well-received character driven story.

For several generations of teen girls, Ellen Ripley was the ultimate shero. Stuck in space with a ravenous monster and nothing but her wits, Ripley single-handedly survives the carnage, defeats the relentless terror and heads for home. Or does she? This suspenseful classic sci-fi horror movie is one of the American Film Institute’s 100 Best Films of All Time. Scary good!
Best in Show, a mockumentary of the professional dog show circuit, takes every opportunity to laugh at the neurotic ridiculousness of it all while exposing the human drama at its core. The humor ranges from subtle tongue-in-cheek to outrageous camp. Obsessed dog owners and show staff each provide their own entertaining take on the dog [...]
Sizzlingly hot thriller, it’s smart and sexy, has mainstream production values, and features two lesbian protagonists who come out on top of the game. Corky (Gina Gershon) and Violet (Jennifer Tilly) plot to steal two million from the mob. If it isn’t the first full-fledged lesbian thriller, it’s certainly the best. Bound won’t disappoint.

Jenny, a convicted murderer, is recruited by piano teacher Traude Krüger. In spite of Jenny’s violent outbursts and Traude’s conservatism, they find common ground and forge a bond of friendship. This is a hard, raw film with no room for sentiment, especially when the characters’ painful pasts are revealed. Award winning cinema.

Arguably the best quality [...]
The original, brilliant, four seasons of Futurama include 72 episodes of 31st century fun, liberally laced with political and social commentary a la Matt Groening. Features one of the strongest women on TV, Leela, a cyclops alien space ship captain, and one of the cutest, klutzy Amy Wong of the Mars Wongs. Fry (cryogenically frozen [...]
The first season of Futurama finds its space-legs quickly, so get into the action from the beginning. Travel 1000 years into the future with Fry in Space Pilot, see the Isaac Asimov homage I Roomate, discover the William Shatneresque Zapp Brannigan in Love’s Labours Lost in Space, wonder at the future’s take on Willy Wonka’s [...]
Bad lesbian cinema attempts to explore post-feminist social politics. Poorly conceived and executed, but nonetheless popular with the younger crowd. Plot: young heartbroken lesbian joins a post-feminist micro-cell; vandalism, bickering, sex and more heartbreak ensue. Proof that the bar for lesbian cinema is low enough for a limbo contest. Watch it if you like youthful anger and rebellion, riot grrrl music or if you just need to see a slice of young lesbian life. Enthusiastically acted.
The exciting sport of professional women’s wrestling, featuring some of the finest female grapplers in the world. No fantasy fetish crap, this is the real deal: fast, furious, and highly skilled. Featuring Erica Montoya, Lisa Ward, Tara Larosa, Megumi Fugi, Roxanne Modeferri, and Marie Coangelo.
Crafty, ruthless and charismatic Irma Vep is not a vampire in the classical sense, but she and her gang of jewel thieves are very much psychological bloodsuckers as they con, seduce and steal their way across the upper-crust landscape of Paris after WW1. An absorbing silent-era classic in serial form. A must for any serious [...]
What was it like to be an openly gay, black woman in the 20th century? This documentary shares a slice of life via the extraordinary Ruth Ellis. In 1919, Ellis was 20 years old and newly out. She ran her own print shop and retired at age 65, she then joined the newly emerging civil [...]
Highlight tape of all the finest moments of the women’s events at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
This German film explores the psychology of S&M, B&D, Master and servant. A lesbian dominatrix runs a gallery show in Hamburg and ultimately must face her own desires and fears. This is one to watch more for the subject explored than for the quality of filmmaking.
An incredibly buff Linda Hamilton runs around with Ahnold-bot blowing up stuff and and saving the world yet again in this fast-paced, satisfying classic sci-fi action/adventure. This is one of those rare sequels that actually outdoes the original, with Robert Patrick inhabiting the most menacing, cold-blooded nemesis in cinema history, the implacable T-1000 assassin cyborg.
It’s like stepping into 1920s London! Evangeline and Beatrice Eliott struggle to survive on their own after the death of their father. They overcome the many obstacles and surprises lying in wait with creativity, strength and grace — which is all the more impressive considering women of that era were afforded little freedom. They succeed [...]
Need to have all five L Word seasons in your hot little hands? Good news — now you can! Catch all the drama, love, laughs and twists while curled up snugly in bed with a blanket and popcorn or with a group of friends on the couch. We’ve heard of all-weekend L Word marathon parties [...]
It’s the lesbian TV series. L Word is known and loved around the world, and has spawned a few L Word-esque shows at home and abroad. The L Word follows the lives, loves and dramas of a group of (mostly) glamorous L.A. lesbian, bisexual and transgender friends. Why torture yourself watching the series one episode [...]
Geena Davis totally rocks this furious thriller, and we highly recommend it. One of the strongest female lead characters in filmdom. Eight years ago, Samantha Caine lost her memory. Now, a cheap detective (Samuel L. Jackson) must help her remember the past before it buries them both. What’s forgotten is not always gone, and you [...]
Rita Moreno gives one of the most memorable performances of her career in this timeless, over-the-top 1975 comedy classic. Naive, fat schlub Gaetano Proclo needs a safe place to hide out from the mob, pronto – what he doesn’t realize is the seedy hotel he checked into is actually the front for a busy gay [...]
The definitive girl buddy movie. Thelma is a repressed housewife sick of her domineering husband. Her best friend Louise is an overworked waitress who has had bad luck with love. They take off together on a spur of the moment vacation roadtrip, and find their true selves. A must see.
A very good but sad movie; love, prejudice, compassion and acceptance are central to this touching film. Fariba is forced to flee Iran and the death penalty for her crime of loving a woman. In Germany, she assumes a male identity and falls in love with Anne before she tragically must return to Iran.
